A thought went up my mind today

That I have had before

But did not finish, - some way back,

I could not fix the year,

Nor where it went, nor why it came

The second time to me,

Nor definitely what it was,

Have I the art to say.

But somewhere in my soul, I know

I’ve met the thing before;

It just reminded me –‘t was all-

And came my way no more.

Hoy me vino a la mente un pensamiento

Que ya había tenido antes

Pero que no terminó,-hace algún tiempo,  

No sabría concretar el año,

Ni a dónde fue, ni por qué vino

La segunda vez a mí,

Ni siquiera qué era

Tengo manera de decir.

Pero en alguna parte de mi alma, yo sé

Que me había topado con eso antes;

Simplemente me hizo recordar-eso fue todo-

Y no volvió a cruzarse en mi camino.
